what’s in a name?
Why “je suis” you might ask?
We debated long and hard over names. It’s a big decision and commitment!
Through the brainstorming, I thought of this riddle my dad’s friend shared with me:
Je suis que je suis, mais je ne suis pas que je suis.
When he told me this, I was studying French at the time, and at first I didn’t understand it. I thought: “I am what I am, but I’m not what I am?” What the hell does that mean??
But the first person of “être” (to be) and the first person of “suivre” (to follow) are the same. The answer was:
I am what I am, but I’m not what I follow
So we’ll take a look at the things we love that make us who we are, and we’ll share the things we’re following - trends, events, awesome people etc.! And besides, while our primary focus is Toronto, we anticipate covering things nation-wide, so as a bilingual country, there’s no harm in a French name.
Alors, suivez-nous!
